Things I Don't Like:
Any parking situation that is not a gigantic suburban parking lot.
Sitting on backless stools.
Things I Love:
Running outside in 70 degrees with a new friend.
Margaritas.
Wedges (not to be confused with wedgies).

Marathon Monday Mantras
I’ve only completed one marathon but concluded that what they say is true: a marathon is 90% mental and 10% physical (assuming you’ve done some legit training of course).
This year I plan to quiet that voice in my end that tells me to walk, that I still have so far to go with the following mantras (that could be quotes from some famous source that I don’t know):
A marathon is a...

[In the 21 days left until the Boston Marathon, I plan to read all the running books I can get my hands on. A few weeks ago was Born to Run and this week it’s Eat & Run, by Scott Jurek. The latter began with this quote which I plan to repeat as my mantra in Boston.]

And I don’t even drink coffee. You’re welcome.
[Hey, I have an idea! How about you consider donating the $5 you just saved on fancy coffee to my Boston Marathon fundraiser? Everybody wins!]

Running is good; running for others is better. Y’all know this. Next month my friend Stephanie —CFO of the non-profit organization buildOn, blogger by the name of Remarkable Lulu, and all-around cutie pie—will tackle her second Boston Marathon and is raising $5,500 in the process. All proceeds will help build a school in...
In which I am a big 'fraidycat baby
I got home tonight to an empty house and on my way upstairs noticed that the front door was unlocked, both deadbolt and handle. I raced upstairs, Ralphie at my heels, closed my door and proceeded to text everyone about my precarious situation, including both of my in-laws who were last home. Of course, everyone BUT them responded.
I don’t want to go back downstairs - the entire downstairs...

Yes, he is in France. True, battling a week-long stomach bug in a foreign country sucks but will sailing down the Seine be that traumatic, dear? Paris!

Tuesday Thoughts
I’m free! Nemo House Arrest has been lifted and I’m at work with real people! Yahoo! Oh wait, I’m at work. With people. UGH, HOUSE ARREST COME BACK!
I ran 6 miles, did 3 minutes of plank and 20 push-ups at the gym last night then ate a frozen pizza and asparagus. Maintaining my pillar of health status everyday, my friends.
I got a sample of Estee Lauder Pleasures last time I was at Ulta and for...
Day 4 of Nemo House Arrest
I didn’t commute into work this morning. Fifty miles in freezing rain on the state’s most accident-prone road sounded not fun, not to mention the fact that I’m not 100% sure my road has been plowed.
One upside of being trapped inside is that my bank account is growing cobwebs - I haven’t touched my blessed debit card since Thursday!
I was considering making a noontime...
