Phrases I Hate and Will Never Use:
Easy peasy
Tugging at my heart strings
I’d like to piggy-back on what so-and-so said…
What are yours?

Kristin, I cannot WAIT to see your professional photos! I’m sure your day was incredible and beautiful and you guys are going to have an amazing time on your honeymoon!
Now that your wedding is over, does that mean I can’t email you with wedding ideas anymore?!
A huge THANKS to all of you who e-mailed me this weekend or sent me love via the Ask feature. I would have blogged every...
Which city is right for you? →
I just took the quiz and my top three results were:
1. Hartford, CT 2. Providence, RI 3. New Haven, CT
Turns out I am living in exactly my ideal location in the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Who knew!
Other interesting results include:
7. Denver, CO - the mountains! 10. Charleston, SC - so pretty! 13. Jacksonville, FL - hell no, FL is too flat. 16. Charleston, WV - I could be a coal miner! 17. Long Island,...
I just spent a measly little fifteen minutes...
Must:
Involve physical activity.
Involve being outside (in good weather. I would have the day off in inclement weather, obvi.)
Would be nice:
If this dream job also involved water of some sort.
And with that, I have determined that my dream job is being a lifeguard. Not exactly a good career move, but it would do wonders for my tan. I would also settle for being a sailing instructor - imagine...
Things I Love: Having fun things to look forward...
Somehow, in the past few days, our weekends from now until August have gotten completely booked.
Our friends from college will be visiting on two separate weekends, my mom and sister are coming down for my Connecticut bridal shower, I’ve got plans for some major wedding shopping with Mark’s mom while he’s gone for his bachelor party weekend, a trip to MALAWI (!!), a trip to LAS...
On the agenda for tonight (because if I don't...
An inevitably hellish commute home, filled with chanting positive thoughts and resisting the urge to punch my fist through the windshield.
A long walk with Ralphie, perhaps interspersed with some running. One of these days, I WILL train that pup to run with ME instead of running after every single animal/leaf/dust particle that moves.
A real run for myself, preferably for a minimum of six...
Struggling
I am 100% confident and happy with my decision to leave my old job. Although I am grateful for the knowledge and experiences it gave me, it simply wasn’t the place for me anymore.
I’m not so sure about this new job though.
I know it’s only been two weeks but I’m finding it hard to get excited about anything, despite the interesting work that they do. I’m trying to...
What a weekend!
Between my Master’s graduation ceremony and the post-grad, multiple hour lunch yesterday, a private flight around Connecticut with my pilot cousin, my family here and the perfectly warm weather, it has been the best weekend in a while! I can’t wait to go through all my photos and get them posted!
Things I Love: Having house guests for the...
Even better when those house guests are my PARENTS! Who I haven’t seen in FOUR MONTHS!
Mark and I spent the last two evenings after work cleaning and tidying and making beds and setting out guest towels and stocking up on Dad’s favorite beer.
I can’t wait until 6pm tomorrow when everyone arrives!
lizlemon asked: You may have covered this and if so, I apologize, but will your new job be taking you anywhere like the last job? More Afghanistan? Somewhere new?
Busy week!
Today, after a quasi-relaxing weekend, I started my new job. It didn’t get off to a good start, the horrible traffic causing my 40-mile commute to take TWO HOURS. By 9am I was already pissed off and grumpy and that was before I had even walked in the door.
I spent the morning setting up my computer, email, voicemail and building passwords/security and the afternoon conquering a task and...
An update to my earlier post re: nausea
It’s my last day here and I got a CUPCAKE for my 3+ years of tireless efforts and going above-and-beyond for EVERY task I handled. A CUPCAKE for 3+ years of keeping this organization on its feet and running smoothly. A CUPCAKE.
I am insulted. I will still eat the cupcake.
Our auditors are here and the audit is going smoothly. Minus the fact that there was a misunderstanding and they...
I feel nauseous.
It’s my last day at my current job, our auditors are here and I’m tensely awaiting a response from the new job on my request to push my start date back a week to allow myself a week to decompress before starting.
Even though this isn’t a particularly great Friday, it’s still Friday. THANK GOD.
oldestofthree asked: I love your blog :) Congrats on graduation and being free from school!! What are you getting your masters in? Have you found it to be worth the cost and time? Thanks!
I just finished my very last presentation of my...
And with that? I AM DONE. I walk that blessed stage next Friday and I’m done with school forever! I am THISCLOSE to being a Master’s degree holder!
Things I Love: A sore bum the day after an 8-mile...
