Half-marathon beats
I am so excited for my race tomorrow morning. I am in the best allover fitness of my life (I swear by strength training!) and am hoping for a PR. It’s going to be a chilly race when the gun goes off at 7am but my killa playlist should warm me to the core. Here’s just a selection of what’s on the Shuffle:
- I Gotta Feeling, Black Eyed Peas — Will forever remind me of the first dance at our wedding reception and what pumps you up more than thinking of every single person you love busting a move?!
- Rompe, Daddy Yankee — Perfect beat to time your stride to.
- Let’s Get Loud, Jennifer Lopez — This is the first song on my playlist from my very first New York Road Runners race in 2007 and I ALWAYS think of that rush of the first mile through Central Park with thousands of New Yorkers.
- She Can Get It, Kevin Rudolph — Because YES!
SheI can get this race! - Sexy and I Know It, LMFAO — Obviously!
- King of New York, Newsies Soundtrack — Mark incessantly makes fun of my having showtunes on my running playlist but I LOVE THIS SONG.
He’sI’m thekingqueen ofNew Yorkthis race! - Jai Ho, Pussycat Dolls (from Slumdog Millionaire) — Love everything about this song and especially adore that movie.
- Supermodel, RuPaul — When I hear the beginning of this song, You’d better work, bitch, you can bet my pace quickens, my head lifts and I am strutting my running stuff.
- Temperature, Sean Paul — Another perfect beat to time your stride to.
- Semi-Charmed Life, Third Eye Blind — This is the song that my stepsister and I scream the words to then collapse in hysterical laughter at the end. A family inside joke that keeps me trucking along.
13.1 miles. Let’s do it!
