This picture symbolizes everything we love about the holidays: warmth, sweetness, decadence, indulgence.
This picture also symbolizes: everything that is currently making me nauseous because I completely overdid it for three weeks straight.
Not everything I inhaled was completely unhealthy (Brussel sprouts with Christmas dinner! A handful of salads!) but there was just SO. MUCH. FOOD. We’d stuff our faces with deliciousness, barely have time to digest it before yet another celebratory meal was consumed!
As soon as we got back to Virginia, I swore off eating out indefinitely, loaded up the fridge with fresh foods and basically just scoured Stephanie’s blog for recipes she’s already tried (Whole internet is too big. I am too lazy).
On the menu:
- Chicken taco bowls (I made these last night and HOLY CRAP. How are these so simple yet so delicious?!)
- Mushroom bourguignon (Tonight!)
- Fennel and sausage risotto
- Buffalo chicken meatballs
- No more baking. Ever. Ever ever ever.
[Photo from THE BEST brunch spot in New Haven (Bella’s Cafe for the locals), where Mark and I took our friends pre-NYE and rolled out two hours later and thousands of calories heavier.]
